The Challenge
The Park Hôtel project in Nice involved a complete restructuring of the existing building on Avenue de Suède and the construction of a new extension adjoining the original structure. This ambitious undertaking required preserving architectural heritage while integrating modern design and meeting strict technical and seismic standards. The complexity lay in combining renovation and new construction within a dense urban environment, ensuring structural stability and compliance with safety regulations throughout the process.
The Solution
Tractebel was entrusted with full technical oversight of the project, leveraging its multidisciplinary expertise to manage every engineering aspect. Our scope included structural and stability studies, geotechnical works, and the design of concrete, steel, and timber structures for both renovated and new sections. We conducted comprehensive seismic analyses, developed support structures and foundations, and managed demolition phases. In addition, our teams handled special techniques such as HVAC systems, thermal studies and simulations, sanitary and fluid networks, high- and low-voltage electrical installations, and road and network integration—ensuring seamless coordination across all disciplines.
The Impact
The result is “Park Avenue Nice,” a high-end commercial development that redefines the aesthetics of this prestigious address near the Promenade des Anglais. Featuring 132 rooms and suites alongside luxury boutiques, the project combines modern elegance with historical charm. The iconic 1880 façade on Avenue de Suède has been preserved and enhanced, including the restoration of original metal balustrades, creating a landmark that harmonizes heritage and contemporary design.
